STRATFORD — One person died and another suffered life threatening injuries after a car struck a tree in Stratford early Saturday morning, police said.
At 3:35 a.m., the Stratford Police Department responded to a single-car crash involving a tree in the 1100 block of Nichols Ave., Stratford Police Capt. Robert Borroughs said.

The car was occupied by five people between the ages of 16 and 24. Three appeared to have minor injuries, one was later pronounced dead and another was sent to the hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries, he said.
The names of those involved in the accident aren't being released at this time, he said.
The accident is still under investigation.
