ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Downtown Atlanta’s I-75/85 connector was blocked off for several hours on Friday morning after a multi-car crash broke out, according to police.
The connector’s southbound lanes shut down near University Avenue at around 2:40 a.m. The crash wouldn’t clear until around 6 a.m.
According to police, a woman operating a Jeep Renegade had car trouble, causing her vehicle to stop in the middle of the road. When she got out of the car, she was hit by a Chevrolet Camaro, which prompted a chain-reaction crash involving six other vehicles.
The woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Several other drivers were also hurt and taken to the hospital, although they are expected to recover.
