Jackknifed semis, 100 car pileup shuts down I-196; stranded drivers bussed from crash site
Both directions of I-196 reopened after an over 100 car pileup and several jackknifed semi trucks injured between nine and 12 people on Monday.
A multi-car pileup formed on west I-196 from 32nd Avenue to 64th Street just after 10:20 a.m., evolving into an over 100 car pileup including multiple jackknifed semi trucks, and an estimated 30 to 40 semi trucks involved overall, causing a complete closure of I-196 heading west and east for about 10 miles from Zeeland, Mich. to Hudsonville, Mich., according to Ottawa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) deputies and Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers.
