Two people died early Friday morning on I-10 Katy Freeway after a car traveling at a high speed hit their car and caused it to catch on fire, police said.
The crash, which police received a call about at 1:15 a.m., caused a complete roadway closure on I-10 near Taylor Street going eastbound. That closure was cleared at 6:36 a.m., according to TranStar.
Authorities say a Tesla driver driving fast rear-ended a Nissan sedan on Katy Freeway. The Tesla was going so fast it hit both barriers on each side of the highway.

Officials have not yet identified the people in the Nissan sedan.
OnScene reports the Tesla driver has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter. A passenger in the Tesla was transported to a hospital.
