LIVERMORE, Maine — Officials say two people are dead after they were ejected from a vehicle during a crash in Livermore.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office says a deputy spotted a vehicle with a loud exhaust going over 100 mph and passing vehicles on Route 4 in Turner around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
The deputy tried to catch up with the vehicle but was never able to get close enough.
A short time later, officials say the deputy came upon a crash on Federal Road in Livermore.
According to deputies, the vehicle, a blue Audi Q5, went off the road, hit a mailbox, clipped a utility pole, became airborne, and hit a second utility pole. The vehicle then crashed into a tree.
Two people were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Their names have not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
