NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) – An investigation is underway following a crash in New Haven on Sunday.
At around 2:50 a.m. first responders were called to the area of Ella Grasso Boulevard and Adeline Street after a report of a motor vehicle crash, the fire department said.
When crews arrived, they found that a car had struck a tree that caused it to burst into flames.
Officials said one person was found dead in the backseat of the vehicle.
Police were then notified by a Yale-New Haven Hospital that another person involved in the crash was transported by a private vehicle.
The victim, a 40-year-old man, died due to the extent of injuries.
Officials said it appears that one vehicle was involved in this crash.
The road is closed at this time.
This incident remains under investigation.
