NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) — Two teenagers were killed and another person was hurt in a crash early Saturday morning in New Bedford, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's office.
The crash on Route 140 south was reported at about 2 a.m.
D. A. Thomas Quinn said responders discovered a 2019 Honda Civic with significant damage off of the road and two individuals who had been ejected from the car.
One of them, a 17-year-old boy from West Yarmouth, was pronounced deceased on scene. The other, a girl, 15, was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead there a short time later.
Quinn said the driver was an 18-year old from Dartmouth. He was also hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Traffic was restricted to the breakdown lane for about three hours. The road reopened to normal traffic at about 5 a.m.
So far no names have been released.
