The two people killed in a car crash in New Bedford Saturday morning have been identified as a 17-year-old boy from West Yarmouth and a 15-year-old girl.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III’s Office announced the ages of the two teenagers Saturday afternoon but did not disclose their names.
On Saturday at 2 a.m., Massachusetts State Police received a report of a single-car crash with life-threatening injuries on Route 140 in New Bedford.
Troopers found a 2019 Honda Civic with significant damage off of the road. Both teens who died had been thrown from the car.
The 15-year-old girl and the driver of the car, an 18-year-old man from Dartmouth, were taken to a hospital for their injuries. Officials did not identify the 18-year-old or say where the 15-year-old was from.
The 18-year-old was treated for non-life threatening injuries but the girl died a short time after she was taken to the hospital, the district attorney’s office said.
“The investigation into the cause of the crash is being coordinated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Massachusetts State Police,” the office said in a press release. “No further information is available at this time.”
