We all know by now that SUVs are big business, and three-row, family-oriented rides are no exception. While automakers have been pretty coy about their future plans, we’ve been gathering all the little details about the upcoming sport-utilities, minivans, and other models that can support your family-hauling duties. Here are the ones we found and are looking forward to.
2026 Subaru Trailseeker
2027 Genesis GV90
2027 Kia Telluride
2027 Toyota Highlander EV
2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe
2027 Lincoln Star EV
2027 Honda Pilot
2027 Honda 0 Saloon
Let’s start this list off right. Though the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker is just a midsize crossover, it looks more like a traditional Outback than the new Outback! However, when it comes to its powertrain, the Trailseeker is anything but traditional. It sports a 75-kWh battery and packs 375 hp from two electric motors, giving this ride all-wheel-drive.

Set to arrive earlier in 2026, the Trailseeker will appeal to EV shoppers who love Subaru’s rugged appeal, but want more space than the Solterra. It’ll also appeal to Outback loyalists who disapprove of the new model’s SUV profile and prefer the wagon-esque look the Trailseeker provides. Fun fact, the Trailseeker is called the “e-Outback” in some markets! Makes you think—
The yet-to-be-revealed Genesis GV90 will add a larger three-row SUV to the Korean luxury brand’s portfolio, one that will line up against the likes of the Cadillac Escalade IQ, Lucid Gravity, and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. Boasting an all-electric powertrain, we’re expecting the GV90 to use a platform similar to that of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. We’re thinking about 500 hp from an all-wheel-drive setup, and at least a 99-kWh battery pack.
We first caught a glimpse of the GV90 in the form of the Neolun Concept back in 2024, and have been expecting its arrival for at least a year, but 2026 might just be its time.
Not everything is about EVs next year (though electrons do tend to attract plenty of eyeballs) as evidenced by the arrival of the lovely new Kia Telluride. The second generation of Kia’s popular three-row crossover is expected to arrive next year as a 2027 model, with a bold new look and two interesting powertrains.
Let’s start with the motors: the Telluride will come with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine instead of the V6 that used to power it. That setup will offer 274 ponies, but there’s a hybrid on the way, too, with 329 hp. Among the more interesting changes this year is the X-Pro model, which boasts more off-road equipment than before, including a raised suspension, limited-slip differential, and a cool camera system that’s handy when the road is made of gravel and mud.
First seen in 2021 at an exhibition of future models, we’re expecting to get a look at the production version of a Toyota Highlander EV next year. In a statement released earlier this year, Toyota has suggested it’s going to make two all-new electric three-row SUVs in the U.S. at Toyota Kentucky, so it only makes sense we get some, too! Expect it to follow the route set by the Toyota BZ, meaning a nice, big battery pack and a NACS port. Stop teasing and give us all the details already, Toyota!
One truck we have plenty of details on is the newly updated Jeep Grand Cherokee, which boasts a cool new Hurricane motor. Instead of the turbocharged inline-six found in Stellantis’ trucks, the Grand Cherokee will get a cool turbo-four that boasts a clean-sheet design. Offered in both two and three-row models, this engine will replace the old turbo-four, but comes with more power and better efficiency. Somewhere around 324 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque to be exact, which is pretty good.
However, the news that will appeal to families is that the range is estimated to be around 814 km on a single tank, perfect for those memorable road trips that parents love to subject their children to. We can’t wait to test it all out in the near future.
Jeep also updated its largest SUV with a cool new powertrain. The 4xe plug-in model of the Grand Wagoneer is actually an extended-range electric vehicle. It features a massive 92-kWh battery and a pair of electric motors that deliver 250 km of range, but it has a neat trick to extend that range to nearly 800 km. See, there’s a 3.6-litre V6 engine that’s hooked up to a 130-kW generator, which supplies the motors and battery.
There are a few more updates to the Grand Wagoneer than just the powertrain, including a new digital gauge cluster and a larger head-up display. We’re eager to test it all out and pit it against the top crop of luxury SUVs in 2026.
Speaking of top luxury SUVs, why not send a little prayer we’ll finally see the production reveal of the Lincoln Star EV, a concept that bowed back in 2022, and that was supposed to preview an electric SUV due around 2026. Well, we’re waiting, Lincoln! We want to see your electric future now!
Though who knows what is going on with Lincoln and its electrified future, as there have been very few EVs from the brand, and even parent company Ford seems to be pacing itself with new EV introductions. Lincoln desperately needs something to compete with all the luxury EVs and PHEVs out there. Will 2026 finally be the year they show up?
We also expect to see a significant refresh for Honda’s three-row SUV offering, the Pilot. The 2027 Pilot has already been spotted in prototype form with disguised front and rear bumpers. We’ll go out on a limb and suggest it will likely adopt some of the chunkier and boxier design cues from the recently released Passport SUV. However, we’re more excited about the rumoured new hybrid powertrain, something the Pilot really needs, considering the current model is among the least fuel-efficient three-rows out there.
Earlier this year, Honda announced a new hybrid is coming to North America to take on the continent’s larger SUVs—we’re betting the Pilot is the ideal candidate for such a powertrain. It’s about time! The Pilot hasn’t been super-popular since its redesign in 2022, but perhaps a new engine choice will catch the attention of eager three-row shoppers.
It may not be a three-row, but it is shaped something like a wagon, and nothing says family-oriented like a wagon, dagnabbit! To be clear, Honda is expected to debut two new EVs under its novel 0 brand. One will be an SUV, with the familiar two-box design; but the more interesting option is the handheld-vacuum-shaped ‘saloon’ model.
Considered the brand’s flagship model, the saloon is expected to come with rear- and all-wheel-drive, and is targeting a range of 480 km. Some reports suggest there could be over 300 hp on tap, ensuring it’ll deliver some driving enjoyment to owners. The vehicle will use a whole new manufacturing process that emphasizes efficiency and a lightweight architecture. Our own Andrew McCredie already got a firsthand look at it all, but I can’t wait to throw my kids’ stroller in that massive trunk and install his car seat in those spacious rear seats. We’ll learn all about it in 2026.
