Batavia, N.Y. — A portion of the New York State Thruway in Genesee County was closed in both directions Thursday afternoon following a crash that New York State Police said involved 25-30 vehicles.
Police said they responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving passenger vehicles and tractor-trailers in that blocked the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 between Exit 48 in Batavia and Exit 48A in Pembroke.
The New York State Thruway Authority said eastbound traffic was being diverted at Exit 48A, while westbound traffic was being diverted at Exit 48. Police announced at 3 p.m. that the eastbound diversion was lifted but the westbound diversion would continue "for some time."
Police said non-life-threatening injuries were reported. No further information about the crash has been released.
