NEW CITY, NY — A deadly car crash in the Hudson Valley has claimed three lives, according to police officials.
The Clarkstown Police Department says that on Sunday, around 3 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of North Little Tor Road and Roberts Road, in New City, after receiving a report of a serious one-car crash.
At the scene, police found a wrecked gray Honda Civic that had been traveling north on North Little Tor Road.
Investigators said the Honda left the roadway and struck a tree, resulting in “catastrophic damage.”
Police say all three occupants of the vehicle, two males and one female, were pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
The names and ages of the dead are being withheld until their families have been notified, police said.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,” Clarkstown police said.
North Little Tor Road, between Ardsley Drive and South Mountain Road, was closed for several hours during the accident investigation. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes and avoid the area. The road was reopened around 2 p.m.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the three victims who died early this morning on North Little Tor Road near South Mountain Road in New City,” Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann said.
The Clarkstown Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has additional information is being asked to contact the Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau at 845-639-5800.
