NEW BEDFORD – A 67-year-old New Bedford man was struck and killed by a vehicle in the area of Route 6 and Pleasant Street on the evening of Jan. 2, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III has announced.
He has been identified as Robert Randall.
New Bedford Police and EMS responded to the area of Route 6 and Pleasant Street at approximately 5 p.m. based upon a report that a pedestrian had been struck at that intersection, according to a press release.
First responders found Randall lying on the roadway a short distance from the intersection.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained on scene and rendered aid to the victim.
The investigation of the crash is being coordinated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the New Bedford Police Dept.
