GREENWICH, Conn. (WFSB) – An 89-year-old New York woman died Monday evening in a three-car crash on I-95 southbound near the Exit 3 entrance ramp.
Jill Newmark Haskel of Rye, New York, was pronounced dead at Greenwich Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the collision, according to state police.
Next-of-kin notification has been made.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. near the Field Point Road entrance ramp.
State police said Haskel’s vehicle approached from behind two other cars, failed to maintain its lane and struck the rear driver side corner of a vehicle in the center lane.
Haskel’s vehicle subsequently spun clockwise, rolled onto the rear portion of another car and slid along the roadway on its driver side. The other two drivers were uninjured.
All three vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Post Road Auto Body.
The case remains under investigation.
