The popular Target car seat trade-in event is making a return this year, offering discounts on future car seats and baby gear purchases for customers who trade in their old car seat or base.
According to the Minnesota-based retailer, the program will make its return on Sept. 21 and run through Oct. 4.
Since launching the program in 2016, Target reports that it has recycled over 3.5 million car seats and diverted more than 53 million pounds of waste from landfills.
With this year’s car seat trade-in event right around the corner, here’s what you need to know.
According to Target, in order for customers to qualify for the deal, they must drop off an old car seat in the designated boxes located near Guest Services inside stores and scan a QR code near the drop-off boxes to receive their discount.
The discount will come in the form of a 20% off Target Circle Bonus toward a new car seat, stroller, or select baby gear.
Target says the discount will be available for use between Sept. 21 and Oct. 18.
According to the store, Target will accept and recycle all types of seats from infant car seats, convertible car seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats. Additionally, they will accept car seats that are expired or damaged.
