HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV) – Court documents are revealing new details in the shooting of Florida State University football player Ethan Pritchard.
Just two weeks ago, Pritchard, who FSU Athletics identified as a true freshman linebacker from Sanford, was shot near the Havana Heights Apartments in Havana.
Authorities revealed during a press conference Wednesday that he had attended a family cookout in Havana and was driving two family members, including a 3-year-old child, home when he was ambushed.
“They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Keith Wilmer with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) said during the presser.
Since then, four people have been arrested in connection to the shooting. 18-year-old Caron Miller, 22-year-old Jayden Bodison and 16-year-old Anthony Glenn all face charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle, an FDLE press release revealed Friday.
The fourth suspect, 23-year-old Germany Atkins, was charged with violating his probation.
All suspects have been ordered not to be released on bond, according to the state agency.
On Friday, WCTV obtained Miller’s arrest affidavit, which went on to lay out the moments leading up to the shooting that occurred August 31 and left the FSU football player in critical condition but stable.
The night of the shooting, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office (GCS0) contacted FDLE, requesting its assistance “for shots fired with injuries at Havana Heights Apartments,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Authorities say one person, later identified as Pritchard in WCTV’s previous coverage, was shot in the head, court documents revealed.
The court records went on to say that immediately after being shot, Pritchard “placed his vehicle into reverse and began driving backwards.” As a result, he then veered into a nearby yard, drove through the property, and collided with a wooden shed.
“Most of the windshield was missing and several bullet holes could be seen across the vehicle,” the affidavit wrote. The investigation revealed that “there was possibly a total of four firearms used in this shooting.”
Three other vehicles nearby were also hit, according to the documents.
Law enforcement found multiple empty casings scattered around the area of the shooting, records show, including in the entrance of the Riverside Apartments nearby.
A few days later, authorities were able to obtain surveillance footage from the Riverside Apartments, which showed what unfolded moments before the shooting occurred.
In the footage, a male “in a gray hoodie, black pants, white shoes and a white ski mask” had been standing at the entrance of the apartment complex “acting as a lookout,” according to court papers. “A large rifle magazine could be seen sticking out of his pants/shirt area,” the affidavit wrote.
Moments later, another male, who “appears to be holding his pants as if there is a heavy object or firearm in his waistband,” was observed walking up to the complex entrance, court documents revealed.

Shortly after, two other males, one of whom appeared to be holding a handgun, were observed walking up to “the other two lookouts and spoke to them,” the records indicated.
All four males, which court records redacted their identities, then “get together and walked out of frame back into the Riverside complex.”
Less than half an hour later, “two unknown males can be seen running from Havana Heights Apartments, through the front parking lot, and back out of frame into Riverside Apartments,” according to the affidavit.
The surveillance footage also shows a male running into Riverside from the Havana Heights Apartments and a male running into Riverside from Havana Heights just before crouching behind a tree near the entrance, court documents revealed.
A male was seen firing a handgun down the road towards the victims’ location just before running back into the Riverside apartment complex, per court records.
Moments later, first responding officers arrived to the scene.
Five days after the shooting occurred, authorities interviewed someone who was at the Havana Heights Apartments the night of the shooting. Court papers revealed that during that interview, the witness reported hearing others yell, “There go the car, there go the car,” followed by gunfire.
The witness also told FDLE investigators that the shooters were planning to target a grey Dodge Charger. He stated that the Charger was connected to a drive-by shooting at the same apartment complex on August 25, six days before Pritchard was shot.
According to arrest papers, the witness stated the suspects “saw the car they were shooting at, and it was the wrong car.” He said “it did not look like the Charger they were looking for because it was a lot lighter.”
Pritchard was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger, according to the arrest report.
