A woman died and a second was hurt when a car smashed into a tree early today, Sunday, September 14.
Emergency crews were alerted to the accident on Coventry Road, near the Dorlecote Place bus stop in Nuneaton, at around 2.05am. Paramedics discovered a woman in her 20s who could not be saved.
Her next-of-kin have been notified.

A second woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving before being taken to hospital. Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Warwickshire Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Those with information can contact officers via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers, reports Coventry Live.
Insp Michael Huntley, from Warwickshire Police, said: "It was a tragic incident, and we have launched a thorough investigation to establish the cause. It is vital we speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dashcam or doorbell footage from the area around the time of the collision. Please get in touch with us.
