Here’s your chance to buy a Bugatti like no other.
The one-off 2020 La Voiture Noire is being put up for auction by SBX Cars and Broad Arrow. This marks the first time the jaw-dropping hypercar has hit the open market since making its debut at the end of the last decade.
Bugatti pulled back the curtain on La Voiture Noire, which is French for “The Black Car,” at the 2019 edition of the Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Chiron, the vehicle was built to celebrate the marque’s 110th anniversary and features a dazzling exterior inspired by the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic. It was also the most expensive new car at the time of its debut, with its still-unnamed owner paying a reported $12.5 million ($18.9 million after taxes) for the one-of-a-kind build.
Now, more than six years later, it appears that they’re looking to clear up room in their collection (or are ready to cash in on their investment). And, because of that, they’ve entrusted SBX Cars and Broad Arrow to find this modern-day “Holy Grail” a home.
“The Bugatti La Voiture Noire stands at the very pinnacle of the cars SBXCars.com has had the privilege to represent,” Ro Choy, CEO of SBX Cars, told Robb Report. “From ultra-rare hypercars to historically significant classics, every car we bring to market is chosen for its cultural weight, design excellence, and lasting significance. La Voiture Noire embodies all three—a one-of-one masterpiece that bridges Bugatti’s legendary past with its engineering present.”
La Voiture Noire features a sculpted carbon-fiber exterior that was assembled by hand. The body and all of its trim are finished in—what else—gloss black. The vehicle isn’t completely monotone, though. The two-seat cabin is covered, from floor to headliner, in Cognac leather, giving it a color combo similar to that of the original Type 57 SC Atlantic.
The unique hypercar does more than just look good, though. It’s also powered by Bugatti’s famous 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W-16. The mill is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and is capable of churning out 1,500 hp and 1,180 ft lbs of torque. The marque never published performance numbers, but it has been thought that the top speed likely fell somewhere between the Divo’s 236 mph and the Chiron’s 261 mph.
Are you looking to add a special Bugatti to your collection? You can register for info about the La Voiture Noire auction now at the SBX Cars website. No price estimate has been announced, but something in excess of the original sky-high price seems likely.
