A schoolgirl has been hit by a car in Perth’s south, while a crash on the Kwinana Freeway has caused significant delays for motorists in a chaotic morning.
Emergency crews were called to Tribute Street in Riverton about 8.30am after the primary school-aged girl was struck by a car.
It is believed the young girl was on her way to school, potentially riding a scooter, when she was hit.
She was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital in an ambulance under normal road conditions.
Meanwhile, peak-hour traffic on the Kwinana Freeway northbound was brought to a crawl following a two-vehicle crash.
The crash, which happened just before Canning Highway in Como, caused the right lane to be closed by incident response crews.
At 10.20am, Main Roads warned traffic was still moving slowly in the area.
Towing services were on site to clear the vehicles.
Motorists have urged to use alternative routes and to allow for significant extra travel time.
