Constantia, N.Y. – An Oswego County man died Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Route 49 in Constantia.
A 39-year-old man from Cleveland died in the crash, troopers said. He was driving a Prius that collided with an SUV.
At about 6:40 p.m., a 2024 Ford Expedition was traveling west on the road when it went off the right side and struck a mailbox, according to a news release from State Police spokesperson Trooper Jennifer Jiron.
The SUV continued west, crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 2010 Toyota Prius.
The SUV went off the left side of the road and crashed into a tree.
The driver of the SUV – Kenneth M. Johnson, 66, of Cleveland – was brought to Upstate University Hospital, troopers said. His passenger, Lisa A. Demarco, 53, of Cleveland, was not injured.
The Prius driver also was brought to Upstate hospital, where he died.
