MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – Two people were arrested this week in New Caney after being caught “actively” stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of copper wire.
According to a press release from the Montgomery County Constable, authorities responded to a report of a possible theft of metal on Grand Parkway and FM 1485 East. The caller said a suspect was loading copper wire into a red Toyota Camry.
Deputies from Precinct 4 responded and discovered the vehicle matching the description given by the witness, as well as a man “actively stuffing wire into the rear of the vehicle.”
The man, identified as Kerry Crenshaw Jr., 35, of New Caney, was taken into custody without incident.
Another suspect, however, ran away into a wooded area. Deputies caught up with Danielle Brown, 31, also of New Caney, and placed her under arrest.

Crenshaw has been charged with felony theft of metal. Brown is charged with felony theft of metal and misdemeanor evading arrest.
Constable Rowdy Hayden thanked the witness who reported the suspicious activity in a statement and added, “Copper theft disrupts lighting and safety systems and puts our community at risk.”
