A new update is coming for Gran Turismo 7 next week, with the timing confirmed by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi just after the Gran Turismo World Series event in Berlin along with a glimpse at some of the contents.
We weren’t entirely expecting an update for September, in part due to the timing of the World Series round and the relative lack of content teasers, but also because the game has been on its longest run of update months in over a year.
However, Yamauchi has sprung a little surprise on us with the announcement, which appears to reveal a bumper crop of five cars — among the most added in one update. We were already aware of the identity of one from previous information, but the other four are new reveals:
Update coming next week.

Given that its identity is the least secret of the five, we’ll start off with the Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo on the center-right. This concept car, designed to preview the next-generation Opel/Vauxhall Corsa with the latest “compass” design language, is the latest addition to the ever-expanding Vision Gran Turismo project.
A unique collaboration between car brands and Gran Turismo, the VGT program often sees designers creating vehicles for the near future. While the Corsa VGT might have some wild technology on board — like 800hp from its electric motors and dynamic aero that includes an extending diffuser — its core design isn’t a million miles removed from what the seventh-gen production car might look like. It’s also having a baptism of fire this weekend, being used in the Pro-Am event in Berlin.
Also visible in the teaser is a sporty four-door sedan, a rare but welcome body style in GT7 updates. This appears to be the Hyundai Elantra N, finally delivering a second new car from the partnership announced between Hyundai’s N division and Polyphony Digital back in 2024. A direct competitor to cars like the Honda Civic Type R, the Elantra N is a 276hp, front-wheel drive performance sedan known for its aggressive styling and track-day prowess out of the box.
One of the more prominent boxy shapes in the rear-right appears to be a somewhat unusual addition to the game’s car roster: the Toyota RAV4. Specifically, it looks to be the previous, fifth-generation model, although it could also be its badge-engineered sibling, the Suzuki Across. While it might seem an odd choice for a racing game, the RAV4 is one of the world’s best-selling vehicles.
Representing the classic era of off-roading is likely the second Toyota, a legendary FJ-series Land Cruiser. The silhouette strongly suggests this is the iconic FJ40 model, produced for over two decades and revered globally for its simplicity, durability, and go-anywhere capability. It’s a fan-favorite vehicle and will likely be a blast to drive on GT7’s dirt circuits.
The final car at the front of the image is likely to be the Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster 12R, a track-ready variant of the current MX-5 released as a highly exclusive, 200-unit limited edition for the Japanese domestic market. It’s equipped with a specially-tuned, naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine that produces 184hp, achieved through a revised intake, lightweight pistons, and an optimized exhaust.
These car teasers are the first stage of the GT7 game update information cycle, and show only the number of vehicles we can expect, as well as teasing their identities. Details about any other new game features or content — like circuits, which we remain hopeful of despite the relatively large gap since the last one — won’t be available until much later on and closer to the update itself.
However we do know roughly what to expect by now, with new races in World Circuits that are usually matched to the new cars, the possibility of a new Bonus Menu Book or a collection-focused Extra Menu Book, some new engine swaps, additional Scapes locations, and other minor changes. Until recently, new GT Sophy capabilities were also included (for PS5 players) although 1.62 missed this out.
Given the usual timings, we can expect to see more information about the update on or around Wednesday, September 24, ahead of the update itself on Thursday, September 25.
As always, watch this space for all the latest!
