HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two young women were critically injured after they were hit by a car while riding a scooter Saturday night in Hesperia.
The incident happened at about 7:25 p.m. on September 20, 2025, in the 11800 block of Pinon Avenue.
Deputies responded to the scene and located two females, ages 18 and 19, who had been struck by a silver 2011 Kia Optima while riding a scooter.
San Bernardino County Fire personnel responded and requested two ambulances. A medical helicopter was also called to assist.
One of the females was rushed to Desert Valley Hospital and later airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center due to critical injuries.
The second female was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Their current conditions have not been released.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies during the investigation. He was eventually allowed to leave. The driver told VVNG that the roadway was very dark at the time of the crash and said the girls were wearing dark clothing, which made it difficult to see them.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Hesperia Station. No further details have been released.
