PHOTOS show a crumpled car and large emergency services response following a “nasty accident” on a major Benfleet road.
Benfleet High Road, close to Clifton Avenue, has been closed as a result of the crash, which appears to have seen at least one car seriously damaged.

A spokesperson for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision in High Road, Benfleet, at 4.58pm this afternoon.
“On arrival, firefighters reported two vehicles were involved in the collision. A crew from Raleigh Weir remains at the scene as they make the area safe.”
Andrew Sheldon, Essex County Council councillor for Castle Point, said: “The emergency services have shut Benfleet High Road by Clifton Avenue because of a nasty accident.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all involved. Please avoid the area if you can.”
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision in High Road, Benfleet, shortly before 5pm on Monday 23 September.
“A road closure was in place while emergency services attended.
“No serious injuries were reported.”
