Police said they were called to the scene about 4pm after three teenagers allegedly stole a car on the Gold Coast. (Supplied)
A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle during an alleged car theft on the Gold Coast.
Police allege three teenagers stole the car from a home on Morala Avenue in Runaway Bay about 4pm on Saturday.
"The occupants attempted to prevent their black Mercedes from being stolen," Queensland Police said, in a statement.
Police said the 54-year-old woman was struck by the vehicle as the teenagers allegedly fled from the scene in it.
She was treated by paramedics before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Paramedics also assessed a woman in her 20s who did not need further treatment.
The stolen vehicle was tracked by police to the M1 Pacific Motorway Yatala South Interchange, where three teenagers were arrested shortly before 4:30pm.
A crime scene has been declared on Morala Avenue and investigations are ongoing.
Any witnesses or anyone with relevant vision is urged to contact police.
