Huawei Technologies Co has unveiled SAIC H5, the first vehicle under its newly established smart car brand co-developed with SAIC Motor.
As the most budget-friendly model within Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Driving Alliance, the H5 expands the alliance’s coverage across all major price segments — ranging from under 200,000 yuan ($28,000) to over one million yuan — and body types, including SUVs, sedans, wagons, and MPVs.
The H5 marks a milestone as Huawei completes its “five-brand ecosystem” under the Harmony Intelligent Driving Alliance. These brands offer a comprehensive lineup of intelligent vehicles tailored to diverse consumer needs. It is a key step by Huawei to sharpen its edge amid intensified competition in China’s new energy vehicle market.
According to Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s executive director and chairman of its terminal business group, the H5 comes equipped with the advanced Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4 system as standard offerings.
Key features include three 4D millimeter-wave radars, the Harmony cockpit, driver recognition with 3D facial verification, an interactive virtual pet, and ultra-smooth navigation. The model also supports smartwatch-controlled functions and Starlink-enabled digital car keys.
SAIC Motor President Jia Jianxu revealed that since pre-orders opened on August 25, the H5 has already received over 160,000 reservations. More than 75 percent of these are for the top-tier configuration, signaling strong market interest in its high-end offerings.
