CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — You might notice Clovis Police rolling out a new tool in an effort to increase security and surveillance.
The department is now deploying its Camera On Wheels, or COW Car, which is equipped with high-resolution cameras.
We're told they are able to record and feed in real-time video for up to a week at a time.
The unattended car may be posted at community events, high-traffic areas and places seeing crime spikes.
The department is also using a trailer featuring the same kind of cameras.
"Anything we can do to help solve a crime, catch a suspect and make our city safer, we're going to do," says Clovis Police Sgt. Abby Padgett. "Especially if that means employing new techonology, new cameras."
The department says they work with their crime analysts to figure out the best areas to move in the cameras.
If you are a business owner who has witnessed multiple break-ins, they encourage you to contact the department so they can potentially set up cameras.
