One person died after a collision Monday afternoon involving a train and a car on Briar Patch Road in the McColl area of Marlboro County.
The victim was identified as Derek Goins, 20, of McColl, according to Marlboro County Coroner De'Aron Smith.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), Goins was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S-10, traveling west on Briar Patch Road, approaching the railroad.
A train traveling north on the tracks struck the car around 3 p.m.

Goins was the only person in the car and died on site.
