A fire has broken out at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 multi-storey car park this morning (1 October 2025), forcing evacuations, road closures, and causing disruption for passengers heading to the airport.
Compounding the disruption, a serious crash on the M25 near Junction 14 (Airport Way) closed all four lanes earlier this morning, with National Highways warning delays could last until midday. Drivers have been advised to seek alternative routes via the M4 J3 or M25 J15 depending on their direction of travel.
A Heathrow spokesperson said:
“Earlier this morning our teams responded to a small vehicle fire in the Multi Storey Car Park for Terminal 3. The fire was quickly extinguished. The car park is temporarily closed which may cause some congestion on surrounding roads. This is an isolated incident and all other car parks at Heathrow are operating as normal. We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience.”
This incident comes just months after a major fire at an electrical substation in March 2025 caused a complete power outage at Heathrow, grounding more than 1,300 flights. While today’s car park fire is unrelated, it again highlights the vulnerability of airport infrastructure to sudden disruptions.
