Bentley just released a shadowy teaser image of an upcoming model. Aside from a photo and brief video clip, the bodacious British boutique car builder shared precious little information about what’s in store, but this rarified machine will almost certainly cost a fortune and deliver incredible performance.
So, what do we actually know about this mysterious vehicle? Well, according to Bentley, an iconic nameplate’s return to the company’s product range is imminent. Adding a bit more color, this model was first introduced 100 years ago.
“This will be a rare Bentley – and one that is raring to perform. Another extraordinary car, coming soon,” the company posted in a three-sentence media release. “More details will be released in due course,” the document concludes. How mysterious!
So, none of that is very helpful in deducing what the automaker is cooking up, but maybe additional information can be gleaned from the teaser image.
The provided image is dark and brooding, though we can see a rear three-quarter view of a two-door car with the taillights shining bright and a bright-yellow UK license plate. There’s also a tastefully sized wing on the trunk lid hinting and some additional performance. Aside from all that, this vehicle wears a stormy gray paint job that also appears to have a matte finish, which can look sinister in the right conditions.
Perusing the Bentley model range, this vehicle is obviously not a derivation of the Bentayga, which is a bulky SUV. We can also clearly see that this is not a Flying Spur sedan nor is it a Continental GT convertible. And this leaves just one vehicle left, the Continental GT coupe. This car is offered in a range of models, from the standard trim to the Azure variant, the pumped-up Speed model to the fancy Mulliner, there’s a little something for everyone, though all these cars should be motivated by the same lovely engine, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that’s bolstered by some hybrid technology.
What Bentley has in store with this upcoming model remains to be seen, but let’s hope the company unveils this machine sooner than later.
