A Butler County motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle accident Oct. 1 in New Sewickley Township.
Jared Schmidt, 43, of Seven Fields, was driving a motorcycle in the eastbound lane along the 300 block of Crows Run Road when his bike was struck by a vehicle traveling in the westbound lane, according to an official release from Chief Gregory Carney of the New Sewickley Township. Police Department.
The two vehicles crashed in the eastbound lane, Carney said in a press release.
Schmidt died at the scene; the driver of the other vehicle was not injured, he said.
New Sewickley police and the Pennsylvania State Police Collision, Analysis and Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the cause of the accident, according to Carney.
He said Crows Run was closed for about five hours, between Route 65 and Freedom-Crider Road, while police did the preliminary investigation.
Assisting police at the scene were the New Sewickley Township Fire Department, Conway Borough Fire Department, Economy Borough Fire Department, Economy Borough Police Department, Beaver Valley Regional Police Department, Economy EMS and the Allegheny Health Network Prehospital Care Unit.
