GARDAI suspect the human remains found in a burning car are those of a man who was reported missing in the hours before today’s horror discovery.
Officers continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the incident in north Co Dublin, however they believe it may be a “personal tragedy.”

Dublin Fire Brigade initially attended the scene at Killeek Bridge near Dublin Airport before midday and extinguished the blaze involving a 2011 Peugeot 405 car.
They raised the alarm with gardai as soon as they discovered human remains.
Given the initial suspicious circumstances, officers launched an investigation into the case.
But following inquiries, they now suspect it was not sinister as first feared and that it is the body of a man who had been reported missing early today.

A post-mortem examination will take place now, the results of which will further guide gardai.
It is understood that DNA will be required to identify the remains.
A source said: “It appears to be a personal tragedy. Initially it was suspicious but as inquiries were carried out, gardai do not suspect that now.
“But they will wait for the post-mortem results.”

The State Pathologist carried out a preliminary examination at the scene before the body was removed for the post-mortem.
The Garda Technical Bureau also combed the area for evidence.
A spokesman said: “An Garda Síochána and emergency services attended the scene following a report of a vehicle on fire on the Killeek Bridge, Killeek Lane, north County Dublin shortly after 11am on Monday October 6th 2025.
“The Dublin Fire Brigade put out the fire and human remains were found.
“The person’s body remains at the scene and a post mortem will be carried out which will determine the nature of the investigation.
“Investigations are ongoing. An Garda Síochána has no further comment at this time.
