Season 2 of Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull rolls on tomorrow with a powerful new episode featuring Alexis DeJoria, Funny Car driver for JCM Racing and the only current full-time female competitor in the category. The fifth episode of season two premieres Wednesday, October 8, at 8 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. PT on the NHRA FAST Channel.
In this episode, host Buddy Hull sits down with DeJoria for an inspiring and high-energy conversation about her journey to the top of the sport. A first-generation racer who carved her own path, DeJoria shares how she first got hooked on Funny Cars, what it took to break into professional drag racing and the personal standard she set for herself early on: refusing to move up to the next level until she won a race. She also talks about the unmatched adrenaline rush of piloting one of the most powerful machines in motorsports and what continues to drive her passion for competition today.
“Alexis is a true pioneer in Funny Car racing,” said Buddy Hull, host of Talkin’ Funny Cars. “She’s tough, focused and has earned every bit of respect she gets out here. Her story is one of grit and self-determination, and I think fans will walk away with a whole new appreciation for what she’s accomplished.”
Everyone can watch the episode on the NHRA FAST Channel, available free on 13 platforms including The Roku Channel (USA & Canada), Tubi, Samsung TV Plus, Sling Freestream and others. After the show airs tomorrow, it will be uploaded to the Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull YouTube channel.
“Funny Cars grabbed me from the start. The speed, the sound, the energy, it’s like nothing else,” said DeJoria. “I’ve always believed in earning my way, and every step of my career has been about proving it on the track. It was great to sit down with Buddy and talk about that journey and what keeps me coming back.”
Every Wednesday throughout the rest of the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, a new episode of Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull will air at 8 p.m. EST and 8 p.m. PST. Future guests will include Jim Dunn, Jeff Diehl, Tim Wilkerson, Mike Neff and more.
