A SUSPECTED stolen car smashed into another vehicle after a police chase in the Bradford district.
Valley Road in Shipley was closed both ways from Briggate to Otley Road following the collision which occurred just before 5am this morning.
The occupants of a Mini Cooper fled the scene before a police search resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male.
He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and burglary.
The road reopened just after 8.30am on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At 4.57am today (Wednesday), a car failed to stop for police when requested to do so in Valley Road, Bradford.
“A pursuit was authorised and the vehicle, a Mini Cooper, collided with another vehicle a short time later as it drove off towards Shipley.
“The occupants of the Mini fled from the vehicle and a search of the area was carried out, which resulted in a 17-year-old male being detained a short time later.
“He was taken to hospital to be assessed.
“The male was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and burglary after enquiries suggested the vehicle had been stolen.
“A road closure was put in place to allow for the vehicles to be recovered.
“The road has since reopened.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
