KISS rock icon Gene Simmons is recovering after he was involved in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Malibu, according to his wife.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a black Lincoln Navigator striking a parked vehicle in the 25000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The driver, who was not named but described as an adult male, “might have suffered a medical emergency before the crash,” the department said.
The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment, it said.
The sheriff’s department did not confirm to NBC News that Simmons was the driver, however his wife, Shannon Tweed, told NBC Los Angeles that the singer was involved in the crash.
Simmons, 76, had told authorities that he had passed out or fainted then hit a parked car, the station reported. His SUV had crossed several lanes of traffic in the accident, Tweed told the station.
She explained that doctors had changed his medications recently and told the star he needed to drink more water.
He’s now recovering at home, she said.
In a post Wednesday on X, Simmons thanked people for the well wishes and said he was “completely fine.”
“I had a slight fender bender. It happens,” he said in the post. “Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”
