People using car parks in Cheltenham have been issued a warning over a scam today (Thursday, October 9).
The borough council has said it has received reports of a QR code scam in its car parks and has told people not to use them.
It stressed that the council does not use QR codes for payments in its car parks – a lit of which you can see below.
In a message posted on social media today, it said: "Please be aware of this car park scam
"We've had reports today (Thursday 9 October) of a QR code scam in our car parks.
We do not use QR codes for payments in our car parks.
"Please do NOT use the QR codes as they are used by scammers to trick customers into paying via their phone to fraudulent accounts.
"Our officers are currently patrolling our car parks.
"All QR codes will be removed and our officers will continue to patrol for the rest of the week.
"If you are concerned that you may be a victim, contact your bank immediately."
