A woman has died after being hit by a car on the A61 in Derbyshire.
Police said they were called to reports of a woman walking on the Dronfield Bypass at about 05:10 BST.
The woman, who was in her 40s and from Sheffield, was struck on the northbound carriageway by a Hyundai Ioniq at about 05:20 and taken to hospital where she died a few hours later.
The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries. No arrests have been made.
Derbyshire Police have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
