A family of ducks crossing a busy Perth freeway is believed to have caused a six car pile-up during the morning peak hour rush.
Vision caught by traffic cameras shows two ducks and five ducklings crossing five lanes of city-bound traffic on the Kwinana Freeway near Canning Highway about 8am this morning.
Cars came to a grinding halt to wait for the ducks to cross, and an accident ensued further south involving six cars.
Police say there were no injuries reported.
Meanwhile, the ducks were trapped crossing the freeway by a concrete barrier separating the road from the centre rail line.
The vision shows several cars parked up, including a bus, with people trying to shepherd the ducks back to safety.
It's unclear how the ducks got onto the freeway, which is guarded by a concrete barrier.
The cars who crashed were piled up under the Canning Bridge, as tow trucks descended on the scene.
It is the second day in a row ducks have caused peak hour chaos in the same spot on the freeway.
The ducks caused traffic chaos on the same section of freeway on Thursday.
On Thursday, traffic banked up from Como to the Mount Henry Bridge as people in high-vis vests and motorists sought to guide several ducks to safety.
It is breeding season for ducks, which Main Roads said meant motorists needed to be on watch.
"Main Roads cannot confirm if the traffic incident was caused by ducks on the freeway," a spokesperson said.
"However, Main Roads urges motorists to exercise extreme caution and remain in their vehicles if they encounter ducks or other wildlife crossing busy roads.
"If you see ducks, ducklings or wildlife attempting to cross a freeway or road, stay in your car and call for assistance."
