Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash in Cork city this morning, after a car flipped onto its side on a narrow residential street.
Paramedics and firefighters attended the site of the accident in Sunday's Well, northwest of the city centre, shortly after 7am. No injuries were reported, and a witness to the emergency response said that while the accident looked extremely dramatic, the driver appeared to have had a "really lucky escape."
A local resident told CorkBeo: "I heard a big bang around seven, just as I was getting my daughter ready for school. We went out and there was a car flipped over on the road.
"It looked pretty dramatic, but the driver got out and was sitting there by the side of the road – he seemed to be fine. The ambulance and fire brigade got there really quickly and gave him a check over. I think he just had a really lucky escape."
They added: "Traffic is bad enough in Sunday's Well at the best of times but it was completely blocked up this morning."
Earlier this year another driver escaped uninjured from an accident that saw their car overturned in the city centre. A late night two-vehicle accident on Washington Street in July left one of the cars on its roof.
Elsewhere a multi-vehicle collision was reported on the N40 South Ring this afternoon, between Mahon and the Jack Lynch Tunnel, causing major delays. It follows a similar incident on the same road on Wednesday.
