NEW SCOTLAND (WNYT) — A 60-year-old man from New Scotland is accused of placing a recording device in a person’s vehicle.
State Police said Jeffrey C. Hyman placed an eavesdropping device to monitor the victim from Guilderland, who he knew, without their knowledge or permission.
On Sept. 27, the victim reported finding the device. Police said during their investigation, police said troopers saw Hyman driving a vehicle with a child under the age of 15 in it. After dropping the child off at a New Scotland home, police followed and stopped him on Eagle Court in New Scotland for traffic violations.
Hyman allegedly had additional eavesdropping devices.
He was taken to the State Police station in Guilderland, where he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14%.
Hyman was charged with unlawful surveillance, eavesdropping, possession of eavesdropping devices, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child and vehicle and traffic violations.
He was arraigned in New Scotland Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
