A person was rescued from a car submerged in the Connecticut River in Middletown early Saturday.
MIDDLETOWN — The body of a 51-year-old Stamford man was pulled from the Connecticut River on Saturday morning after his vehicle drove into the river and became submerged, Middetown police said in a news release Saturday afternoon.
Police identified the man as Gautam Ramesh Mirchandani.

Just before 7:30 a.m., Middletown police and fire departments responded to a report of a vehicle that drove into the Connecticut River just off Harbor Drive, police said. The Middletown Fire Department Dive Team, with the assistance of the Middletown Police Department Dive Team, was able to recover the man's body from the submerged vehicle, police said.
Mirchandani’s vehicle also was recovered from the river, police said.
Middletown Police Department's Major Investigations Unit is handling the incident, police said.
