Spooky season is upon us, and there is no better way to get into the spirit of Halloween than dNB Inc.’s Annual FallFest.
The streets of downtown New Bedford will be mysteriously transformed with eerie sounds, spooky decorations, haunting treats, and youngsters in costumes exploring the magical fun.
The free community event will be a spooktacular time for all ages, held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
“FallFest has really become one of those special downtown traditions,” Elissa Paquette, owner of Calico on Union Street and president of Downtown New Bedford, Inc., said in a release. “It’s a chance for our businesses to connect with the community in a fun, festive way — and for local families to discover everything their downtown has to offer.”

In the black heart of downtown New Bedford, there will be more than 30 delicious candy stops, as well as intriguing pop-ups from local businesses. Live music will entertain the crowd, and seasonal specials will be available throughout the area. Lined along the streets will be frighteningly decorated cars, handing out candy from their trunks.
But the magic doesn’t stop there – adults can also join in on the fun with outdoor “libation stations” serving up fall-themed beers and cocktails from popular local spots such as No Problemo, The Pour Farm Tavern, and The Vault.
“I love seeing downtown come alive during FallFest,” said Craig Paiva, owner of No Problemo, in the release. “It’s such a fun day for the city, and I just wanted to be part of helping it grow.”
In addition to the festivities, Pour Farm will be hosting a FallFest Afterhours from 5 to 8 p.m. in their beer garden, keeping the haunting vibes going with live music from Brian and The Cassettes.

While the event is focused on Halloween festivities, it also serves as an opportunity to show support for local downtown businesses and discover all that downtown has to offer.
“Downtown New Bedford is full of small businesses who put their heart into what they do,” said Paquette in the release. “FallFest is a reminder of how special that is — and how powerful it can be when the community comes together to support local.”
