Multiple people have been taken to hospital after a vehicle struck a building at Main Street and 49th in Vancouver shortly after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, VPD Sgt. Steve Addison tells CityNews.
Vancouver Fire Rescue assistant on-duty chief Randy Boruck says the incident involved two cars.
“One car did go into a building, approximately two to three feet,” Boruck said.
“There were minor injuries from glass and bruising where the car came into the building.”
He says at least one of the drivers is included among those injured.
Addison says it appears that the vehicle that hit the medical office was attempting to cross Main Street.
“That’s a very, very busy major road,” he said. “As it was trying to cross multiple lanes of traffic, it was struck by another vehicle. The course of that collision resulted in that car striking a medical clinic that had a number of people inside.”
He says multiple people were injured, but it isn’t clear how many.
“Fortunately, none of those injuries appear to be life-threatening,” he said.
“That said, multiple people have been taken to hospital for treatment and as a precaution.”

Images posted online show a car partially inside the office, multiple emergency vehicles on scene, and significant damage inside the office.
Colin Bambury is the head of marketing for THC Canada, which is located two doors down from the medical clinic. He says he was serving customers when the crash happened around 1 p.m.
“I didn’t see anybody that appeared to be on the ground or physically injured or anything,” he said.
“I just saw some people that were crying and shaken up.”
Bambury says it appears the vehicle — which he describes as a grey or silver SUV — went through the wall of the medical office into the wall of the pharmacy next door, but this has not been confirmed by official sources.
Boruck says the building’s structural integrity is intact.
More to come.
