An elderly woman died after being seriously injured in a car crash in Co Limerick yesterday. Another woman was also rushed to hospital for treatment.
The woman, who was in her 70s, died as a result of injuries after a collision on Saturday morning. The crash involved two cars and occurred on the N21 at Templeglantine West, Co Limerick, near the Kerry and Cork county borders, shortly before midday.
Gardaí rushed to the scene of the serious two-vehicle road accident, where the driver of one of the cars was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick, where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Another woman, also in her 70s, was a passenger in the second car and was injured. She was brought to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The road is open this morning. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI) will conduct a forensic collision investigation of the scene.
Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses to the incident to contact investigators at Bruff Garda Station. Officers want to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area between 11.00 am and 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 18, to contact them.
Road users who have camera footage (including dash cams) from that section of road during the relevant period are also asked to make it available to investigating officers.
