Emergency crews are racing to reopen the busy road
TRAFFIC has ground to a halt on a busy UK motorway after a horror multi-vehicle crash.
The M62 is blocked on the eastbound carriageway near junction 22 for Denshaw, Manchester, with emergency crews warning they have detected a fuel leak.

The horror crash happened earlier this afternoon with emergency services racing to respond to the incident.
Drivers are currently facing two miles of congestion on the busy road as National Highways works to reopen some of the motorway’s lanes.
Motorists have been warned to expect delays of up to 45 minutes while the chaotic scene is being dealt with.
National Highways said a large fuel spillage has been confirmed across lanes one and two.

Images from the scene show emergency workers clad in high-vis walking across the empty lanes of the motorway.
Cars, seemingly involved in the crash, are stopped in the middle of the road.
A queue of traffic behind the stopped motors can be seen stretching down the closed motorway.
Traffic caught in the closure is being released, according to National Highways.

The agency said: “Traffic is being held on the M62 eastbound within J22 (Denshaw) following a collision involving multiple vehicles.
“We’re working to reopen some lanes.
“Delays are building quickly on approach, approx. 2 miles of congestion.”
