Several lanes are closed between junctions 27 and 28 clockwise on the M25
There are long delays on the M25 after a crash involving two lorries and a car.
Three lanes are closed clockwise between junction 27 for the M11 and junction 28 for the A12 in Essex.
Highways England said the lanes remained closed while emergency services worked at the scene.
It said there was approximately six miles of congestion, adding about an hour to normal journey times.
Traffic is backing up to junction 26 for Waltham Abbey, through the Bell Common Tunnel. There are also queues on the M11 southbound.
