McLaren driver Lando Norris has won the Mexican Grand Prix to move ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri at the top of the world championship standings.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc held off a resurgent Max Verstappen to secure second, which means the reigning world champion now trails Norris by 36 points.
Haas driver Ollie Bearman finished fourth to record his best ever F1 finish, with the 20-year-old defending brilliantly against Piastri in the closing stages.

Mexico City Grand Prix briefing: Norris wins, Bearman impresses, disaster for Hamilton
Here is how the rest of the field finished up. Tsunoda not in the points again, albeit he held up Oscar Piastri for Max Verstappen’s benefit.
And a desperate day for Williams, when you consider the Haas performance.
The not classified drivers who failed to finish were Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso (34 laps), Sauber’s Nico Hülkenberg (25) and Racing Bull’s Liam Lawson (5).

Let’s take you through the final result here in Mexico City, starting with how the points have been dished out …
How annoyed was Max Verstappen about that late virtual safety car that ended his pursuit of Charles Leclerc for P2?
💬 “You win some, you lose some right? … Very hectic, the beginning of the race for me. On the outside I got onto the kerb, and almost crashed onto the grass. It was about surviving the first stint.
“A difficult weekend for us, so to be fighting for P2 with everything that happened in the first few laps is a strong result.”
Brilliant from Lando Norris today. On another level. He’s hitting his stride at just the right time.
Oscar Piastri clawed back well after such a bad start, but fifth still isn’t good enough to keep the championship lead.
This is the first time it has changed hands since April.
Here is what relief sounds like. Charles Leclerc was probably saved second place by that late virtual safety car. Here is his reaction:
💬 “Very happy with this weekend. To end up again on the podium is a great surprise. Very happy to be on this amazing podium again.
“I was quite happy about the (VSC) at the end, my tires were completely gone. It saved me!”
At least he fared better than his Ferrari teammate. Lewis Hamilton finished P8, and his wait for a first podium in wait goes on.

Into the cooldown room and the drivers watch a few highlights, discuss the tires — and they don’t really look that tired.
But I bet they are.
Generally, it’s pretty quiet this time. We must be getting to the business end of the season.
Hang on. It seems Lando Norris has got a few boos from the Mexico fans. Wonder what that is about — unless it’s because he was about three weeks up the road for the entirety of the race!
Here is his podium reaction:
💬 “What a race, I could just keep my eyes forward and concentrate. It was a straightforward race for me, good start, good launch, good first lap and could go from there.
“Man this is awesome here, a big thanks to all the fans.”
Yes, that last bit was before he realized he was being booed. He later said he would ignore the noise as his title bid continues — referencing the crowd’s reaction to him.
Huge cheers in the stadium section as the three podium drivers are interviewed in front of the fans. What a place to do it.
Lando Norris looks calm and content.
Charles Leclerc looks pretty relieved.
Max Verstappen is busy discussing the opening turn dynamics, but feels he also produced a very strong result.
Lando Norris is told he finished P1 in the car and that he had been “absolutely fantastic the whole weekend.” Norris responds:
💬 “Yeah, a beautiful weekend. Well done everyone. Incredible result. Wonderful car. Thanks for the hard work. Keep it up — we need to keep it up.”
This could be a big moment in the world championship, right here.
So that is Oliver Bearman finishing P4 — his best ever result, and it equals Haas’ best too.
My driver of the day by a mile. What a day for the Bearmans!

Not enough racing time left in the end. Max Verstappen finishes 0.7s behind Charles Leclerc to complete the podium.
Oscar Piastri is more than a second behind Oliver Bearman to take P5.
And there it is … LANDO NORRIS wins! But we knew that was coming a while ago!
Dominance from the McLaren, who takes the checkered flag for victory in Mexico City.
LAP 71/71 — Was that really necessary?! Carlos Sainz’s car didn’t look in a crazily dangerous position.
Virtual Safety Car over. Half a lap of racing …
LAP 71/71 — NO! Last lap, two battles on — and we have a virtual safety car!
What a disappointing way to end this wonderful race!
LAP 70/71 — Evander Holyfield on checkered flag duty, by the way. Line up your boxing puns now.
Yellow flags! Carlos Sainz is out and pulled over. Verstappen closes onto the gearbox of Leclerc …

LAP 69/71 — Three laps to go, Oscar Piastri dips into DRS range on Oliver Bearman — who is P4 and currently matching Haas’ best race finish.
Max Verstappen dips into DRS range on Charles Leclerc in P2 too.
Has either driver got enough laps left?
So many great drives in this race. Lando Norris, obviously. But Max Verstappen is catching Charles Leclerc at such a rate he could rescue second, against a driver who has been excellent bar the cheeky corner-cutting at the start.
Then there’s Oliver Bearman, Esteban Ocon (P9) and Gabriel Bortoleto (P10) — something excellent happening everywhere, along with a few slips and errors on what is a very tricky track to be perfect on.
LAP 65/71 — Fair play, the Mercedes drivers have already swapped back. Well done, George. Kimi Antonelli now P6.
Oscar Piastri is 2.0s behind Oliver Bearman in P4 too. Six laps to go.
Then up the road, Charles Leclerc has 2.8s as a buffer to Max Verstappen in P3.
