Holly Springs police said a 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with driving while impaired (DWI) in connection with a crash that killed a teenage cyclist.
Police said Aston Henry Rahlfs was arrested on Sunday after officers were called to Avent Ferry Road near Holly Meadow Drive around 1:40 a.m. for reports of a crash involving two cars and a bicycle.

Police said Rahlfs was driving a 2021 Honda Passport, one of the two vehicles involved in a multi-car crash that left a 14-year-old bicyclist dead. When they arrived, they found that a 2008 Honda Civic, a 2021 Honda Passport and a teenage bicyclist were involved.
The driver of the Civic and one of the passengers in Rahlfs’ car were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.
However, the teenage bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not provide the name of the bicyclist, but said they were a student at Holly Springs High School.
Avent Ferry Road was closed in both directions as investigators attempted to piece together what happened in this accident. As of 8:10 a.m., the road has fully reopened.
Police are still working to learn the cause of the crash.
