Jeep has revealed the updated Grand Cherokee with refreshed styling, a reworked interior, and a new turbocharged engine
Jeep is on a roll as the company has brought back the Cherokee and revamped the Grand Wagoneer. The off-road brand has now turned its attention to the Grand Cherokee, which is getting a significant update for 2026.
Starting outside, the model adopts an all-new front fascia with a streamlined seven-slot grille. The latter is flanked by new headlights, which have an evolutionary design.

Additional changes are limited, but the model adopts new exterior trim as well as an updated rear bumper. Buyers will also find an expanded color palette that now includes Copper Shino, Fathom Blue, and Steel Blue.
A Familiar, But Updated Interior
The updates continue inside, where there’s a revised dashboard and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system. The latter is a huge step up from the old 8.4- and 10.1-inch displays. That isn’t the only change, as we can see new switchgear and an updated center stack.
Jeep said they’ve simplified the trim lineup, which now consists of the Laredo, Limited, and Summit. However, there’s a dizzying array of packages, and that’s before mentioning the Grand Cherokee 4xe comes in Limited, Summit, and Trailhawk guise.
As a result, there’s still a bloated and confusing lineup that Jeep spent paragraphs trying to explain. Of course, without pricing information, delving into specifics is kind of pointless.
That being said, the entry-level model comes equipped with new 18-inch wheels and chrome accents. They’re joined by an assortment of driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking, rear cross-path detection, blind-spot monitoring, and active lane management.
Higher-end variants are more luxurious as they offer a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and a nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system. They can be joined by Nappa or Palermo leather as well as heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats. Audiophiles can also get a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system.
Two Carryover Engines And A New Turbo Four
The 2026 Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L have a familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 293 hp (218 kW / 297 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. However, certain trims have an all-new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo with Turbulent Jet Ignition technology.
We’ll have a lot more to say about the engine shortly, but it churns out 324 hp (248 kW / 337 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. Jeep also said customers can expect a best-in-class driving range of 506 miles (814 km) as well as a towing capacity of 6,200 lbs (2,812 kg).
If that’s not efficient enough, there’s the Grand Cherokee 4xe. It features a plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 17.3 kWh battery pack, and an eight-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor.
This enables the model to produce a combined output of 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is expected to reach dealerships later this year, with full specifications and pricing to follow soon.
