The S680 Emerald Isle Edition costs as much as some homes and comes better equipped
Monterey Car Week is officially underway and Mercedes-Maybach has used the event to unveil the new S680 Edition Emerald Isle. It’s a luxurious flagship sedan that draws inspiration from California’s coastal landscapes.
This influence is clearly on display as the model features a two-tone exterior that combines a Manufaktur Moonlight White Metallic body with a Manufaktur Mid Ireland Green Metallic upper section. Mercedes says the latter color honors Monterey cypress trees, while the former pays tribute to the white sand of Pebble Beach.

Besides the two-tone paint job, the car features gaudy chrome accents. They’re joined by stylish 21-inch Champagne Flute forged wheels that have a two-tone appearance.
The special touches continue inside the cabin, which is lavishly appointed with hand-stitched Manufaktur Light Brown Nappa leather as well as a Black Nappa leather headliner with a quilted diamond pattern.
Buyers will also find Manufaktur Black Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines trim, special door sill plates, and an “Edition Emerald Isle 1 of 25” badge on the center console. They’re joined by premium floor mats that have Light Brown Nappa leather piping and an embroidered Mercedes-Maybach logo.
The automaker also worked with artisans to create a unique fragrance for the special edition. It’s dispersed by the Air Balance system and is said to feature hints of cedar, cypress, and sea salt.
The luxury sedan comes equipped with the Executive Rear Seat Package Plus, which features two individual rear seats that are separated by a full-length center console. They’re joined by folding tray tables, rear comfort pillows, a refrigerator, and champagne flutes.
Power is provided by a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 664 lb-ft (899 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. It enables the 5,346 lb (2,425 kg) sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds.
Only 25 Emerald Isle editions will be available in the United States and they’ll arrive at dealerships this fall. There’s no word on pricing, but the standard model starts at $240,500.
That’s not cheap, but the special edition comes with a hand-crafted gift box from the Manufaktur Studio. It’s finished in Light Brown Nappa leather and houses two keys as well as a fragrance bottle.
