Car & Classic has launched its first-ever Collector Edition sale, and among the 30 handpicked icons is a car that perfectly bridges movie and music history – a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 once owned by Duran Duran’s John Taylor.
Finished in the unmistakable Silver Birch over Elephant Grey leather, the DB5 mirrors the exact look of the one made famous by Goldfinger, right down to its meticulous restoration by GTC Engineering and Shapecraft.
With Taylor’s band recording the theme for the 1985 Bond film A View to a Kill, this car ties two British legends together in one package.
There’s nothing as fabulously British as this collaboration, so it’s no surprise it’s a popular auction piece that’s going to turn heads and hopefully empty pockets.

The car was originally restored under Taylor’s ownership in the 1980s and again in the 2000s.
The DB5 has been carefully rebuilt with a straight-six engine upgraded to 4.2-litre version.
It’s accompanied by a full background file, confirming its authenticity as one of the most desirable examples of Aston Martin’s most celebrated model.
It’s a classy blend of rock royalty and movie history, and it makes it one of the standout lots of the auction – and a dream for collectors who crave film and music stories as powerful as the cars themselves.
Car & Classic CEO Tom Wood describes the Collector Edition as a ‘natural expansion’ of the brand’s growing auction platform, which has already disrupted the UK’s classic market since 2020.
Now, it’s stepping up with a curated collection worth between $7.8 million and around $13 million, featuring automotive legends like a 1980 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S and a 1960 Bentley S2 Continental Flying Spur.
Obviously, the standout lot is the 007 Aston Martin owned by the Duran Duran bassist.
The name’s Taylor, John Taylor.
